If That Ain't Country lyrics - David Allan Coe

[Recitation:]
The old man was covered with tattoos and scars
He got some in prison and others in bars
The rest he got working' on old junk cars
In the daytime
They looked like tombstones in our yard
And I never seen him when he wasn't tired and mean
He sold used parts to make ends meet
Covered with grease from his head to his feet
Cussing' the sweat and the texas heat
And skeeterz
And the neighbors said we lived like hicks
But they brung their cars for pa to fix anyhow
He was veteran-proud, tried and true
He'd fought till his heart was black and blue
Didn't know how he'd made it through the hard times

He bought our house on the g.i. bill
But it wasn't worth all he had to kill to get it
He drank pearl in a can and jack daniels black
Chewed tobacco from a mail pouch sack
Had an old dog that was trained to attack
Sometimes
He'd get drunk and mean as a rattlesnake
And there wasn't too much
That he would take from a stranger

There were thirteen kids and a bunch of dogs
A house full of chickens and a yard full of hogs
I spent the summertime cutting' up logs for the winter
Trying' like the devil to find the lord
Working' like a nigger for my room and board
Coal-burin' stove, no natural gas
If that ain't country, I'll kiss your ass

If that ain't country,
It'll hair lip the pope
If that ain't country, it's a damn good joke
I've seen the grand ole opry,
And I've met johnny cash
If that ain't country, I'll kiss your ass

[Recitation:]
Mama sells eggs at a grocery store
My oldest sister is a first-rate whore
Dad says she can't come home anymore
And he means it
Ma just sits and keeps her silence
Sister, she left 'cause dad got violent
And he knows it
Mama she's old far beyond her time
From chopping tobacco and I've seen her crying'
When blood started flowing' from her calloused hand and

It hurt me
She'd just keep working' trying' to help the old man
To the end of one row and back again like always
She's been through hell since junior went to jail
When the lights go out she ain't never failed
To get down on her knees and pray
Because she loves him
Told all the neighbors he was off in the war
Fighting' for freedom,
He's good to the core and she's proud
Now our place was a graveyard for automobiles
At the end of the porch there was four stacks of wheels
And tires for sale for a dollar or two
Cash

There was fifty holes in an old tin roof
Me and my family we was living' proof
The people who forgot about poor white trash
And if that ain't country, I'll kiss your ass
If that ain't country, it'll hair lip the pope
If that ain't country, it's a damn good joke
I've seen the grand ole opry,
And I've met johnny cash
If that ain't country, I'll kiss your ass
I'm thinking tonight of my blue eyes
Concerning the great speckled bird
I didn't know god made honky-tonk angels
And went back to the wild side of life

Long Haired Redneck lyrics - David Allan Coe

Country deejays knows that I'm an outlaw
They'd never come to see me in this dive
Where bikers stare at cowboys who are laughing at the hippies
Who are praying they'll get outta here alive

The loud mouth in the corner's gettin' to me
Talking 'bout my earrings and my hair
I guess he ain't read the signs that say I been to prison
Someone ought to warn him 'fore I knock him off his chair

'Cause my long hair just can't cover up my red neck
I've won every fight, I've ever fought
Hey, I don't need some turkey telling me that I ain't country
And sayin' I ain't worth the damned ol' ticket that he bought

'Cause I can sing all them songs about Texas
And I still do all the sad ones that I know
They tell me, I look like Merle Haggard
And sound a lot like David Allen Coe

And the bar maid in the last town that we played in
Knew the words to every song I'd wrote
She said, Jimmy Rabbit turned her on to my last album
Just about the time the jukebox broke

Yeah, Johny Cash helped me get out of prison
Long before Rodriguez stole that goat
I've been the Rhinestone Cowboy for so long, I can't remember
And I can do you every song, Hank Williams ever wrote

And I can sing all them songs about Texas
And I still do all the sad ones that I know
I can't help it, I look like Merle Haggard
And I sound a lot like David Allen Coe

But the country deejays, all think I'm an outlaw
And they'd never come to see me in this dive
Where bikers stare at cowboys who are laughing at the hippies
Who are praying they'll get out of here alive

The loud mouth in the corner's gettin' to me
Talking 'bout my earrings and my hair

When She's Got Me (Where She Wants Me) lyrics - David Allan Coe

Last night she made it plain she didn't want me today I woke later and alone
Tomorrow I'll be turnin' to the bottle tonight I'll be cold and all alone
She only broke my heart Lord not my spirit she only took my body not my soul
My skin still burns in places where she touched me
And when she touched me Lord I lost my self-control
When she's got me where she wants me she don't want me
I'm just another game she likes to play
I don't think I can make it through tomorrow
I almost never made it through today
She sure knew how to love me when she loved me
When I was weak she always came on strong
She knew just what it took to drive me crazy
And she knew how much I hate to be alone
When she's got me where she wants me

Revenge lyrics - David Allan Coe

Judy, I feel weary now, older than a man of 33
The gates of Hell just opened, after 20 years the warden says I'm free
Revenge was all I wanted
When I killed the man that took your life that day
I've had my satisfaction, but the price was more
Than love should have to pay

[Chorus:]
Lord knows you weren't no lady
And the witnesses all swore you was to blame
And the way you teased the menfolk
The jury all agreed you knew no shame, knew no shame

Well I'm glad that you can't see me now
You'd probably say I do not look my best
Those lawyers took my money
And that Louisiana road gang took the rest

And Judy I can't even conjure up your picture in my mind today
Lately I've been thinkin' what a fool I was to love you anyway

Well it all seems kind of useless
As I place these flowers on your grave today
I don't know what I'm doing here
I've forgotten all the things I came to say

Texas Lullaby lyrics - David Allan Coe

See those tumbleweeds a blowin'
Lord, It makes me want to cry
It reminds me of my Daddy
And that Texas Lullaby
See those cactus flowers blooming'
Like the twinkle in his eye
Everytime he started singin'
That old Texas Lullaby

[Chorus:]
Yippie Yi Little doggie, roll on, roll on
Yippie Yi Little doggie, take me home, take me home
It's so cold on the desert, I'm chilled to the bone
Yippie yi Little doggie, yippie yi

Looky yonder there's a dust cloud painting pictures in the sky
Daddy told me all about, in that Texas Lullaby
Them old Longhorns are a ballin', Lord I know I must be high
Wish my Daddy could hear me singin' this old Texas Lullaby

[Chorus]

Daddy Left me this old guitar, though I never quite knew why
He said someday I'd be famous like the Texas Lullaby
But it's been a month of Sundays since I've seen that old eagle fly
And nobody wants to listen to a Texas Lullaby

[Chorus]

Living On The Run lyrics - David Allan Coe

Seems like it's rainin' harder today
The rain must of known I was comin' this way
It ain't easy living on the run
If I pick up my step and pull my belt down tight
I can make it to the border by Saturday night
And it's lonely living on the run
I killed me a woman in Tennessee
I just broke jail and they're gunnin' for me
I'm on the run living on the run
I'm on the run living on the run

My woman wanted more than a man could steal
From the bottom of the decks
Where I learned to deal
And it got me me living on the run
Women love an outlaw I heard folks say
And I'll be an outlaw till my dying day
Cause it got me living on the run
I killed me a woman in Tennessee
I just broke jail and they're gunnin' for me
I'm on the run living on the run
I'm on the run living on the run

Family Reunion lyrics -David Allan Coe

Mama taught us how to sing in harmony
Grandma used to stomp her foot and slap her knee
I can still hear daddy singin'
Down by the old mill stream
When uncle Jim played the fiddle
You could hear it talk you could hear it sing

And it echoed down the mountains
To those Georgia pines
Ran through Tennessee just like that old moonshine
Old Joe Clark Cripple Creek Annie Get Your Gun
I guess my old time favorite was yhat Fox on the Run
Like a fox, like a fox on the run

Grandpa played the dobro till the break of dawn
Me I had this guitar and I'd strum along
Carol played the washboard and the tamborine
Little Mary Beth would always help us sing
And it echoed down the mountains...
Mama taught us how to sing in harmony
Grandma used to stomp her foot and slap her knee
I can still hear daddy singin'
Down by the old mill stream
When uncle Jim played the fiddle
You could hear it talk you could hear it sing

And it echoed down the mountains
To those Georgia pines
Ran through Tennessee just like that old moonshine
Old Joe Clark Cripple Creek Annie Get Your Gun
I guess my old time favorite was that Fox on the Run
Like a fox, like a fox on the run

Rock And Roll Holiday lyrics - David Allan Coe

Why did you come here, what do you need
Don't look at me like you want me to plead
My friends are dying to make rock and roll stand
While we've been living in a country rock band
We've got to slow down - come down
We got to get off of this merry-go-round

Where did you go, Marilyn Monroe
If you see James dean, tell him i said hello
Janis sang here, jimmy did too
They're saving a place there for me and you
There's gonna be a rock and roll holiday
We've got to get there in time to play

Tune up the fiddle, rosin the bow
We could be the only country band on a rock and roll show
We've got to get up, no time to hit up
There's another crowd waiting for the music to play

Slow down - come down
Don't take a ride on death's merry-go-round

Free Born Rambling Man lyrics - David Allan Coe

I never meant to leave her my intentions were to stay
It wasn't nothing she had done or nothing she could say
To change this old familiar feeling that makes chills run through my skin
Less she read my mind and saw the sings that point around the bend
My toothbrush never leaves my pocket there's no anchor on my feet
If my sleepin' bag gets dusty and there's not enough to eat
I may stay an extra day till I find another town
You can bet there's not a lady that can show this freight train down
And I'll be moving in the morning leaving you behind
If anyone should ask you you can tell them they will find
Somebody walking down the highway with a guitar in his hand
And I'll always be remembered as a free born rambling man

Lord tell the children when they find me that I died but not in vain
They can find reincarnation in the whistle of a train
And each time they hear the whistle blow through the stillness of the land
They'll know that I was happy as a free born rambling man
And I'll be moving...

Spotlight lyrics - David Allan Coe

I can't see nothing but spotlights spotlights see nothing but me
All of my music is lonely yeah all of my heartaches were free
Don't waste your time or your flash bulbs too many heroes are dead
You like to live in the city yeah I like to live in my head
Somebody shoot out that spotlight spotlights ain't nothing but jive
Roll me a smoke and give me some coke treat me like I am alive
Tell all the ladies I'm single tell Lone Star beer that I'm dry
Everyone's lying bout livin' everyone's livin' a lie

I spend my nighttimes in mourning I spend my morning's alone
You spent your your money to see me tonight yeah I spent all mine gettin' stoned
Now that they're both kinda busted doesn't it seem kinda strange
That I lay down knowing we're two of a kind you'll leave here knowing my name
Somebody shoot out that spotlight spotlights ain't nothing but jive
Roll me a smoke and give me some coke treat me like I am alive
Tell all the ladies I'm single tell Lone Star beer that I'm dry
Everyone's lying bout livin' everyone's livin' a lie

Dakota The Dancing Bear, Pt. 2 lyrics - David Allan Coe

Betty drove the semi, she pulled up to the pump
I thought I wanted a Coca-Cola and I started out on the jump
She said, "Hold it Dave, come quick, there's something you got to see
That man had got a dancing bear tied up to that old tree"

I said, "Dance, dance, Dakota dance all around the country store"
Me and sweet Betty ain't never seen
A bear that could dance before
Well, it's one step, two steps, three steps four
A bottle of soda and he'll dance some more
Dance, dance Dakota dance all around the country store

Well, these hippies walked up to the cage
Givin' pills to that ole bear
I don't know what it was they was giving to him
It had him pulling out his hair
I tried to keep time with the music,
Lord with the beat on my tambourine
Gave him some wine from a mason jar and we all began to sing

[Recitation:]
Well, I went out to Los Angeles, California and I saw a semi-truck along the side of the road. It said 'Dakota the Dancing Bear' on the side of it now they charged you 50 cents to watch this bear dance around a truck. So I turned to Arlo and I said "Arlo, we ought to get down off these motorcycles and walk over there and see if that's the same bear that Betty told US about when she was driving the semi-truck for us back in Nashville, Tennessee." So we got down off our motorcycles and we walked over there eaten' our pickles. Now there was four or five hundred thousand of these hippies freaks standing' around waiting' on a ROCK festival. It appeared that David Allan Coe, Kris Kristofferson and the Grand FUNK Railroad was playin' in town that day and their airplane had got hijacked somewhere over Chicago, Illinois. So it turned out that the people with short hair started throwin' rocks at the people that had long hair.

"Once Upon A Rhyme" (1975)

Would You Lay With Me lyrics - David Allan Coe

Would you lay with me in a field of stone
If my needs were strong, would you lay with me

Should my lips grow dry,
Would you wet them, dear
In the midnight hour,
If my lips were dry

Would you go away to another land
Walk a thousand miles through the burning sand
Wipe the blood away from my dying hand
If I give myself to you

Would you lay with me
In the stream of life
When the moon is full,
Would you bathe with me

Will you still love me,
When I'm down and out
In my time of trial,
Would you stand by me

Would you go away to another land
Walk a thousand miles through the burning sand
Wipe the blood away from my dying hand
If I give myself to you

Would you lay with me
In a field of stone
If my needs were strong,
Would you lay with me

Jody Like A Melody lyrics - David Allan Coe

Jody like a melody play inside my head till the thought of you is more than I can stand just to think of having you is music to my soul you make me feel as though the world is in my hands

Jody like a melody you warm me and then leave me with a chill I can't believe the sun will rise without me looking in your eyes and knowing that your love has made me strong why you left I'll never know the fire you built will always glow I only know I woke to find you gone

Jody like a melody you warm me and then leave me with a chill Jody, I can't keep my thoughts about me in the daytime when your memory is enough to make me blind and late at night I lie awake and wait for you to come and when you don't you know I almost lose my mind

Jody like a melody you warm me and then leave me with a chill Jody like a melody...

Loneliness In Ruby's Eyes lyrics - David Allan Coe

They say she came all the way from Dallas
But I see more than Texas in the hard times on her face
And every song she sings brings back a hundred thousand memories
Of another girl, another time, another place

She does not have the body of the woman I once loved
But she's still the girl that I once idolized
And, I swear, I see a little bit of every girl I've known
In the loneliness of ruby's eyes, in the loneliness of ruby's eyes

Kinfolks say she's had a lot of lovers
And love don't leave a woman filled with shame
And I've heard tell she had a child in Dallas
And all the men in Houston know her name

Would You Be My Lady lyrics - David Allan Coe

Would you hold on to my hand when I get lonely
Could I come to you whenever I'm in need
Would you always have a place for me to lay my body down
Would you be my lady, in the morning
Would you be lady

Would you walk with me across the bridges I forgot to burn
Could you face the future looking at my past
If I took the time to teach you all the things you'll need to learn
To be my lady, when I need you
Would you be my lady

Does it matter to you that you're not my first love
Would you let a thing like that stand in your way
If I said you was the woman that could ease my troubled mind
Would you be my lady, when I need you
Would you be my lady

Would you walk with me across the bridges I forgot to burn
Could you face the future looking at my past
If I took the time to teach you all things you'll need to learn
To be my lady, in the morning
Would you be my lady

Would you always have a place for me to lay my body down

Sweet Vibrations (Some Folks Call It Love) lyrics - David Allan Coe

Ain't no sense in crying, lord
I'd rather see you smile
Come down from the city life
And stay with me a while
There's so much that nature
Wants to share with you and me
Put your hand in mine
And let this old world set us free

Up on the mountain
Down in the valley
Living' on sweet vibrations
Some folks call it love
Up on the mountain
Down in the valley
Living' on sweet vibrations
Some folks call it love

Come out to the country
Find your peace of mind
Leave that dirty city
Somewhere way behind
We found something out here
You'll find something out here
Looked for so long
Never been so happy
Never sang a happy song

Bo came by to see us
He's a friend from days gone by
Danny played some guitar licks
That made me want to cry
Old friends from california called us
On the telephone
I got no time for misery, lord
No time to be alone

Another Pretty Country Song lyrics - David Allan Coe

I bought this rhinestone suit in California
These boots came all the way from Mexico
This Cadillac ain't nothing', son
You ought to see the greyhound
I bought to take my band from show to show
Seen my face a thousand times on TV
And heard me on your local radio
And in your eyes I see the admiration there for me
But, son, there's something that ought to know

Well, I've got to take a drink to keep from shaken'
Motel rooms ain't nothing like a home
Money can't make love grow any stronger
When you leave your woman home alone
She can't raise the children with no daddy
She can't love a man that's always gone
It takes a whole lot more than pride
To keep your feelings locked inside
While you sing another pretty country song

I've seen your face a thousand times on TV
I've heard you on my local radio

It's true I took some pills to stay awake, son
And this diamond ring I wear is just for show
I've got a little cabin in the country
When I'm not on the road that's where I go
Try and put my feelings down on paper
Right or wrong the show has to go on
I can cry deep down inside and keep on smiling'
While I sing another pretty country song

But I've got to take a drink to keep from shaken'

Piece Of Wood And Steel lyrics - David Allan Coe

I can feel your arms around me
Like it was yesterday
I can feel your hearing next to me
And hear your laughter gay
You tried to tell me what was right
And I told you what was real
All I ever live for now
Is this piece of wood and steel

In a world that's full of trouble
A world that's full of pain
Lord, many fall beside the road
And they never rise again
Many more are bending low
Or broken at the wheel
All I need to carry on
Is this piece of wood and steel

I was born my mother's only son
She loves me all she can
But there isn't much to say to her
Since I became a man
And I often met the devil
But I never made a deal
I just thank the lord for hands to play
The piece of wood and steel

It's face is scarred and beaten
Like the ragged clothes I wear
Like the body that god gave me
I might give it better care
But I play it for the ladies
And I play it for a meal
I play the strings just to hear 'em ring
On this piece of wood and steel

I'm growing tired of searching now
There's nothing much I crave
Give or take a little time
And you can write it on my grave
There's nothing more I care to own
Nothing left to feel
All I ever wanted
Was this piece of wood and steel

In a world that's full of trouble
A world that's full of pain
Lord, many fall beside the road
And they never rise again
Many more are bending low
Or broken at the wheel
All I need to carry on
Is this piece of wood and steel

I was born my mother's only son
She loves me all she can
But there isn't much to say to her
Since I became a man
And I often met the devil
But I never made a deal
I just thank the lord for hands to play
The piece of wood and steel

I'll be playing this guitar till the day I die

Fraulein lyrics - David Allan Coe

Far across the deep blue waters lives an old German's daughter
On the banks of the old River Rhine
Where I loved her and left her now I can't forget her she is my pretty Fraulein
Fraulein Fraulein walk down by the river each night when the stars start to shine
By the same stars above you I swear that I love you you are my pretty Fraulein

When the memory wanders away over yonder to that cute girl that I left behind
In a moment of glory her face comes before me the face of my pretty Fraulein
Fraulein Fraulein walk down by the river...
You are my pretty Fraulein

Shine It On lyrics - David Allan Coe

Shine it on, my man, forget your troubles if you can,
I'll hold you 'till the dawn, shine it on, shine it on
You've been too long on the road and you're ready to explode,
Come and lighten up your load, shine it on

We had love and not much more but dreams just for free
We sure got lost there, dad and mom and me
He'd let me steer on straight a ways as we drove from town to town,
We knew that daddy's gypsy blood wouldn't let him settle down

There were times he'd sit right down, just plain hang his head
But he'd always lift it up and smile whenever mama said,
Shine it on, my man, forget your troubles if you can,
I'll hold you 'till the dawn, shine it on, shine it on
You've been too long on the road and you're ready to explode,

Papa's gone, but lord, his blood is running through my veins
Mama's gone to find him, so she can't ease my pain
Another woman holds me now, in a little different way
Now I know why papa smiled, when he heard mama say

You Never Even Call Me By My Name lyrics - David Allan Coe

Well, it was all
That I could do to keep from crying'
Sometimes it seemed so useless to remain
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even call me by my name

You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings
And you don't have to call me Charlie pride
And you don't have to call me Merle Haggard anymore
Even though you're on my fighting' side

[Chorus:]
And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing' in the rain
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even called me by my name

Well, I've heard my name
A few times in your phone book (hello, hello)
And I've seen it on signs where I've played
But the only time I know
I'll hear "David Allan Coe"
Is when Jesus has his final judgment day

[Repeat chorus]

[Recitation:]
Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
And he told me it was the perfect country & western song
I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was
Not the perfect country & western song because he hadn't said anything at all about mama,
Or trains,
Or trucks,
Or prison,
Or getting' drunk
Well he sat down and wrote another verse to the song
And he sent it to me,
And after reading it,
I realized that my friend had written the perfect
Country & western song
And I felt obliged to include it on this album
The last verse goes like this here:

Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got run ned over by a damned old train

[Chorus:]
And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing' in the rain
No, a' you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even call me
Well I wonder why you don't call me
Why don't you ever call me by my name

"The Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy" (1974)

A Sad Country Song lyrics - David Allan Coe

If you're feeling lonely
And think you're the only one left
That's alone in a bar
If you need somebody
With shoulders to cry on
Well baby, I'm not very far

Just look for my name on a jukebox
When you're tired and feelin' alone
Put in a dime and I'll take the time
To sing you a sad country song

If you started drinking
Still can't stop thinking
About all those long nights alone
If tear drops start falling
And you keep on calling
To find out there's nobody home

Just look for my name on a jukebox
When you're tired and feelin' alone
Put in a dime and I'll take the time
To sing you a sad country song

I'll sing you a sad country song

Crazy Mary lyrics - David Allan Coe

In the lamplight burning low AND
Dimly through enchanted woods
She rocks beside the fire that never was lit
And as we ran on by
Pretending to be frightened
We WOULD shout and laugh at Crazy Mary

Crazy Mary from LONDONDERRY
Lives next door to the cemetery
How many lovers have you buried
We would shout, running scared
ACROSS the green and golden paths
That LED us home, away from Crazy Mary

She would never answer us
JUST SMILE through the window softly
Wild-eyed and wild-haired but we were sure
That in the dark of night
She cursed us soundly, casting spells
And such to turn us into donkeys

So they went the summner years
Each one more fleeting than the last one
Rushing down the green and golden paths
And soon the woods were not enchanted anymore
For we we had grown and we'd forgotten crazy mary

So it comes that older now
We stand upon this windswept moor
The lonely STONE before us
Testifies that Crazy Mary ROCKS AND SMILES and dreams
HeR dreams somewhere
But not where little kids can follow after

And on the stone, these words, dear friend
Please write me down as one who loved
The raven-haired and laughing lads
That swore that they would marry me
BUT soon their sons came running by
And here I lie, forgotten, Crazy Mary.

In the lamplight burning low and dimly
Thru enchanted woods we think
About the sins that we commit along
The green and goden paths of gowing up
We light the fire and say a prayer for crazy mary

River lyrics - David Allan Coe

River, you heard my first cry as a baby
And, like my Mom, you sang me lullabies
You knew my fishing pole
When I was eight years old
And, river, you never told me lies

River, I can see you from my window
Your muddy water makes me feel alone
River, you keep flowing
Like you know just where you're going
But, River, will you ever take me home

River, I'm not proud of what I've done
Somehow my fishing pole became a gun
Through these prison bars I see
That you're still running free
But, river, I've got no place to run

he 33rd Of August lyrics - David Allan Coe

Well, today there's no salvation
The band's packed up and gone
And I'm left standing with my penny in my hand
There's a big crowd at the station
Where the blind man sings his song
But he sees, Lord, what they can't understand

It's the 33rd of August, Lord
And I'm finally coming down
Eight days from Sunday
Finds me Saturday bound

Once I stumbled through the darkness
Fell down to my knees
A thousand voices screaming in my brain
Woke up in a squad car
Busted down for vagrancy
And outside my cell, it sure as hell, it looked like rain

Now I've got my dangerous feeling
Under lock and chain I've killed my violent nature with a smile
Though the demons danced and sang their songs
Within my fevered brain
Not all my God-like thoughts, Lord, were defiled

Yesterday's newspaper forecast no rain for today
Yesterday's news was old news
So I threw it away
Some time's at night, Lord, you know
I can still feel the pain
And, outside my cell, it sure as hell, it looks like rain

Bossier City lyrics - David Allan Coe

My hands are shaking and I'm sadly learning
The truth behind your innocent disguise
You never thought I knew that you had been untrue
But I once saw the devil somewhere in your eyes

And now you got the nerve to ask me where I'm going
And I don't believe I'd tell you if I knew
I'll be gone when the sun comes up tomorrow
I believe it's time to say good-bye to you
And it sure smells like snow in Bossier City
But there ain't no weather quite as cold as you
I'd sooner stand in Mother Nature's anger
Than to spend another lonely night with you

I'm talking but I'm feeling you're not listening
My words they just fall heavy on the floor
Yes, it's true that you knew I would not stay forever
And you won't see me crying when I walk out your door

And it sure smells like snow in Bossier City
But there ain't no weather as cold as you
I'd sooner stand in Mother Nature's anger [fade]

Atlanta Song lyrics - David Allan Coe

I met her in Atlanta
She was a-dancing in a cafe
With a price tag on her body
And a tombstone in her eye
You could tell she was not happy
By the way she kept on staring
Past the other side of nowhere
At a man she'd like to try

And the make-up she had painted
Could not hide the youthful motions
Of her body
From the music or the crowd
I stared like all others
With my right hand in my pocket
While she showed us
Everything the law allowed

Twenty bucks an hour later
My one-bedroom apartment
I was feeling weak
From all the seeds I'd sown
She was sweet, she was gentle
As she introduced my body
To some pleasures
It had never ever known

When I woke up in the morning
She was a-laying there beside me
Like a kitten
With her face turned to the sun
And a look of satisfaction
On her lips that made me wonder
If she ever felt ashamed
Of what we'd done

So I left her in atlanta
She was a-dancing in cafe
With a price tag on her body
And a tomestone in her eye
And I guess she still ain't happy
By the way she keeps on staring
Past the other side of nowhere

Old Man Tell Me lyrics - David Allan Coe

I've seen the old man sitting' 'round
The courthouse square back home in town
Talkin' about the big war back in 1943
Saying' how much good it's done
Medals gleaming' in the sun
Cussing' at my long hair
And my talk of being' free

Their vision like their battle scars
Of other wars has faded
Like the colors on the ribbons
From the battles that they've won
If there's one thing I've learned it's this
You just can't shake hand with a fist
And I once did my talkin' with a gun

And, old man, I know what you've seen
But yours is not the only dream
I have to believe in something more than yesterday
Let it die just like the past
I believe there's hope at last
Old man, did you ever have to pray
Old man, can you show me the way

He shakes his head from time to time
And rambles somewhere in his mind
Mumbling' 'bout the civil war
And how we should have won
Setting' up his battle plans
On checker boards at his command
Watching' all his gallant kings go fallen' one by one

And "son," he'd say, "there's not much time
For you to straighten out your mind
But you never listen to the things I try to say"
And I just turn my head and cry
Never understanding why
He'd set up that checker board
When he knew I couldn't play

Desperados Waiting For The Train lyrics - David Allan Coe

I'd sing the Red River Valley and he'd sit in the kitchen and cry
Run his fingers through seventy years of livin'
Wonder Lord has every well I drilled ran dry
We were friends me and that old man
Like desperados waiting for the train like desperados waiting for the train

He's a drifter and a driller of oil wells and an old school man of the world
Taught me how to drive his car when he's too drunk to
And he'd wink and give me money for the girls
And our lives was like some old western movie
Like desperados waiting for the train like desperados waiting for the train

From the time that I could walk he take me with him
To a place called the Green Frog Cafe
There was old men with beer guts and dominos
Lyin' bout their lives while they'd play
And I was just a kid that they all called his sidekick
Like desperados waiting for the train like desperados waiting for the train

Now I looked up and he was pushin' eighty
And there's brown tobacco stains all down his chin
To me he's one of the heroes of this country
So why's he all dressed up like some old men
Drinking beer and playing moon and 42
Like desperados waiting for the train like desperados waiting for the train

Then just before he died I went to see him I was grown and he was almost gone
We just closed our eyes and dreamed us up a kitchen
And sang another verse to that old song
(Don't cry Jack it's only Jesus comin')
Like desperados waiting for the train like desperados waiting for the train
Like desperados waiting for the train

I Still Sing The Old Songs lyrics - David Allan Coe

Grandpa, I've been thinking about you lately
Wondering if you'd found peace of mind
I guess you'd be proud to know your grandsons
Never crossed that mason-dixon line

And i still sing the old songs that you taught me
And i still pray to Jesus now and then
And just like you I wish that he would save me
To see the day the south will rise again

Daddy wore his purple heart so proudly
Long before I turned into a man
Buried with our flag across his casket
I was still too young to understand

Mama spent her last years in the garden
While I took my turn behind the gun
Lord, I'd give my life to find the freedom
Lost within the old songs that you sung

And I still sing the old songs that you taught me
And I still pray to Jesus now and then
And just like you I wish that he would save me
To see the day the south will rise again

The Old Grey Goose Is Dead lyrics - David Allan Coe

Go tell aunt Rhody
The old grey goose is dead

Grandpa found her dying
In the millpond on her head

The gander won't eat now
Gander won't eat now
Because his wife is dead

Let's pray for the babies
Pray for the babies
Because their mama's dead

Somebody go tell aunt Rhody
Go tell aunt Rhody
The old grey goose is dead

Somebody go tell aunt Rhody
I want you to go tell aunt Rhody
Go tell aunt Rhody
Tell her that the old grey goose is dead

Lord, now go tell aunt Rhody
Children, go tell aunt Rhody
Want you to go tell aunt Rhody
Tell her that the old grey goose is dead

Everybody go tell aunt Rhody
Now, now, go tell aunt Rhody
Now, now, go tell aunt Rhody
Go tell aunt Rhody - tell her
That the old grey goose is dead

"Penitentiary Blues" (1969)

Penitentiary Blues lyrics - David Allan Coe

And I never worked before
'Bout to blow my fuse
Penitentiary blues

They gave me clothes on Tuesday
Like I ain't ever seen before
The kind of rags my momma used
To scrub our kitchen floor
And funny square-toed shoes
Penitentiary blues

All that marijuana
Selling cocaine
Now they're taking blood tests
From my heroin vein
Oh baby
Things I used to do now
I was born to lose
Penitentiary blues

I miss my main street women
I miss my monkey grady wine
I miss the cats down on the corner
We used to have a swingin' time
Chalkin' up our cues
Penitentiary blues

All that marijuana
Selling cocaine
Now they're taking blood tests
From my heroin vein
Oh baby
Things I used to do now
I was born to lose
Penitentiary blues

'59 Cadillac '57 Chevrolet lyrics - David Allan Coe

Standin' on the corner watchin' all the girls go by
Drinkin' wine and whiskey smokin' joints and stayin' high
I was young and crazy and I never thought that I could die

'59 Cadillac '57 Chevrolet
Goin' to the gravel pit and racin' til the break of day
Smokin' in the boys room lookin' for some chick to lay
I was young and crazy and life was full of girls and beer
Now I'm gettin' older but I'm still crazy after all these years
All these years

Lookin' at the strippers hangin' out in tittie bars
Life was Jim Beam whiskey, naked chicks, and fancy cars
I thought I was bullet proof I was reachin' for the stars

'59 Cadillac '57 Chevrolet
Goin' to the gravel pit and racin' til the break of day
Smokin' in the boys room lookin' for some chick to lay
I was young and crazy and life was full of girls and beer
Now I'm gettin' older but I'm still crazy after all these years
All these years

3 Biggest Lies In The World lyrics - David Allan Coe

Well the motorcycle club had a party,
And all the young virgins were there.
And I found a blonde with little bitty titties
And a pretty yellow ribbon in her hair.
Then I told her the three biggest lies in the world,
The ones my Daddy first told me,
And that was the beginning of my sexual life
And the end of my fantasy.

I said, "This'll only hurt for a little while,
I'll only put the head of it in.
I promise that I'll never try to cum in your mouth."

Met her in a local honky-tonk,
Told her it was love at first sight.
She was just a-lookin' for a shoulder to cry on
And a place where she could spend the night.
Me, I was a little nervous - I'd never been that far before,
So I told her the three biggest lies in the world
As we danced across the floor.

I said, "This'll only hurt for a little while,
I'll only put the head of it in.
I promise that I'll never try to cum in your mouth."

Busted in a Birmingham robbery,
He didnt have no money for bail.
The judge bound him over to the local grand jury
And the Sheriff threw his young ass in jail.
They put him in the cell with a pervert,
That later tried to climb in his bed.
Stuck one of them homemade knives to his throat,
And these are the words that he said,

Good Buddy- "This'll only hurt for a little while,
I'll only put the head of it in.
I promise that I'll never try to cum in your mouth."

Bright Morning Light lyrics - David Allan Coe

She was a waitress in a west Texas dance hall
I was a cowboy with a throat full of sand
I called her Honey when she brought my whiskey
And later I left there holding her hand
Then we walked down the street to a tumble down hotel
Where she had a room on a cold second floor
And that room looked like hell just a bed and a table
A shade on the window and a lock on the door
I said to myself she's cheap and she's easy
But she don't look half bad I'll stay for the night
But I'll leave when it's early cause I've got this feeling
She won't look so good in the bright morning light

I've known some devils and I've known some angels
I once had a woman on the Mexico line
But I've never been touched like that woman touched me
She lay there beside me and crawled in my mind
And we talked and we smoked and made love till mornin'
The sun come a streamin' through a hole in the shade
And it fell like a spotlight on her face and her body
And it hung like a halo round the bed where we lay
I said to myself she's cheap and she's easy
But she don't look half bad I guess I'll stay for the night
But I'll tell you boys that was five years ago and Lord God what a woman
She still looks as good in the bright morning light

Child Of God lyrics - David Allan Coe

Your life laid down, crucified.
Your arms stretched out and open wide.
To rescue me so I can be a child of God.

From nail pierced hands and thorn pierced brow
Your blood flows down to me somehow.
It cleanses me so I can be a child of God.

Praise to the lamb that was slain
Praise to the Father who gave His son away

The proof of love, the price of grace
You traded all to take my place
And died for me so I can be a child of God

Praise to the lamb that was slain
Praise to the Father who gave His son away

Cocaine Carolina lyrics - David Allan Coe

Morning found me lyin' on a floor in New Orleans,
Looking like the patches was about to eat my jeans.

Feeling like my belly was a warehouse for the blues
And I sure miss my sweet Cocaine Carolina.

Met her on an oceanliner, called her Cocaine Carolina
She was quite a lady then and I was twenty two.

God knows how much I adored her I just never could afford her
Cocaine Carolina how did I get hooked on you?

So goodbye Cocaine Carolina you and I are through
I'm going back to Sandy Scag she knows just what to do.

She don't love me for my money, she just wants my body honey.
Cocaine Carolina how did I get hooked on you?

Oh someone said if I was lucky I could go back to Kentucky.
Lexington was famous for its bluegrass and its hills.
Carolina we should get up, don't you know we'll have to split up,
Maybe I should go to California

So goodbye Cocaine Carolina you and I are through
I'm going back to Sandy Scag she knows just what to do.

She don't love me for my money, she just wants my body honey.
Cocaine Carolina how did I get hooked on you?

Oh goodbye Cocaine Carolina...
Oh goodbye Cocaine Carolina..

Cum Stains On The Pillow lyrics - David Allan Coe

She went away and left me

Oh She never said a word
And even if she would have told me
I probably never would have heard
Well she once said no other woman honey
could lay up in her bed

Noe theres cum stains on the pillow
Where she once laid her head
cum stains on the pillow
in the middle of the bed

I found me a true fine momma
and she got some damn good head
but i hope shes out there listening
to every word i said

Cause theres cum stains on the pillow
Where she once laid her head
(Play it now Guitar Solo)

Here now when she took my Cadilliac
That didnt bother me abit
When she took that blue tick hound
she shouldnt ever done that shit

Never thought Id see the day
Her love would be as dead
as the cum stains on the pillow
Where she once laid her head

Cum stains on the pillow
In the middle of the bed
Found me a too fine momma
and shes got some damn good head

I hope your out there listening
To every word i said
Cause there cum stains on the pillow
where you once laid your head

Yes theres cum stains on the pillow
In the middle of bed

D-R-U-N-K lyrics - David Allan Coe

How do you spell relief?
I get D-R-U-N-K
Lately Dave since my baby left me
I do it almost every day
It's the only thing that I've found
That'll take the hurt away

Well how do you spell relief John?

I get D-R-U-N-K
Every night about sundown I get a pain down deep inside
This old broken heart acts up
There's a hurtin' in my pride
Well I've found a sure fire treatment
That'll get me feelin' right
When your memory starts flarin' up
I just head for the neon lights

How do you spell relief David?

I get D-R-U-N-K
Lately since my baby left
I do it almost every day
It's the only thing that I've found John
That'll take the hurt away

Well how do you spell relief?

I just get D-R-U-N-K

John Hartford

I don't need no doctor
Tell me what is wrong
I can fill my own perscriptions
And it lasts me all night long
It's the perfect medication
For an ailment such as mine
I forget about the tears I've cried
When the whiskey hits my mind

How do we spell relief?
We get D-R-U-N-K
Lately since my baby left me
I do it almost every day
Well I tell ya Johnny
Its the only thing I've found
That'll take the pain away

How do we spell relief?
We get D-R-U-N-K

How do we spell relief?
We get D-R-U-N-K

How do we spell relief?
We get D-R-U-N-K

We're havin' fun now ain't we?

Dear Penis lyrics - David Allan Coe

Dear penis,
I don't think I like you anymore,
You used to watch me shave,
Now all ya do is stare at the floor,
Oh dear penis,
I don't like you anymore.

It used to be you and me,
A paper towel and a dirty magazine,
That's all we needed to get by,
Now it seems things have changed,
And I think that you're the one to blame,
Dear penis, I don't like you anymore.

He sings

Dear Rodney,
I don't think I like you anymore,
Cos when you get to drinking,
You put me places I've never been before,
Dear Rodney, I don't like you anymore.

Why cant we just get a grip,
On our man to hand relationship,
Come to terms with truly how we feel,
If we put our heads together,
We'd just stay home forever,
Dear penis, I think I like you after all.

Oh and Rodney,
While you're shaving, shave my balls.

Fish Aren't Biting Today lyrics - David Allan Coe

Take the jib sail down boys take the jib sail down
Turn this ship around boys before we run aground
The fish aren't bitin' today boys fish aren't bitin' today
I'm gonna lay on my bunk and get drunk as a sunk cause the fish aren't bitin' today

There's six foot waves and my stomach craves some good old Antiguan Rum
I took some away for a rainy day and the rain she is startin' to come now
Take the jib sail down boys...

There's a northern wind and the lights are dim like a good fresh Cuban cigar
I got me a hunch where there might be a bunch in the Captain's pickle jar
So take the jib sail down boys...

The fish aren't bitin' today boys...

Free My Mind lyrics - David Allan Coe

I'm a cosmic cowboy
A big time player
I like Pantera, Kid Rock, and Slayer
I like Ice-T the rapper I mean
When it comes to drinkin' I like Jim Beam
I play Washburn guitars with a rebel flag
But I don't wear make-up or dress in drag
I smoke a lot, I'm a whiskey drinker
I ain't no hick songwriter
I'm a pretty deep thinker
I'm glad you came to see me put on a show
My name is David Allan Coe I came to let you know that..

[Chorus:]
I've been tryin' to have a real good time
Forget about thinkin' tryin' to free my mind
I've been tryin' to have a real good time
Forget about thinkin' tryin' to free my mind

I own my own limosuine and a Cadillac
I got a million dollar tour bus and that's a fact
I ain't broke but I ain't rich
I call women honey not hoe or bitch
I'm into Tanya Tucker, Twisted Brown Trucker
The Allman Brothers Band and Marshall Tucker
I'm not in this for money I do it for fun
And I don't shoot dope but I will shoot my gun

I ain't no phony dude
I'm the real thing baby
Just like Rob Zombie just like Slim Shady

[Chorus:]
And I've been tryin' to have a real good time
Forget about thinkin' tryin' to free my mind
I've been tryin' to have a real good time
Forget about thinkin' tryin' to free my mind

You know I love Uncle Kracker he's a cool DJ
I like Prince Purple Rain, Hendrix Purple Haze
I like Hank Williams Sr., Hank the third and his dad
Hank Williams Jr. I mean he's bad
Willie Nelson, Waylon too
I like newgrass, bluegrass, and Emmylou
I like Pete Seeger, Bob Seeger, Motorhead
Natalie Cole, Bill Monroe, and the Grateful Dead
You know I tried to quit smokin' but I might be slippin'
I don't like acid rock but I might be trippin'

[Chorus:]
I've been tryin' to have a real good time
Forget about thinkin' tryin' to free my mind
I've been tryin' to have a real good time
Forget about thinkin' tryin' to free my mind

Fuck Anita Bryant lyrics - David Allan Coe

Hey, Fuck Anita Bryant
Who the Hell is she
Telling all them faggots
That they can't be free
Throw that bitch in prison
Then maybe she'll see
Just how much them goddamned homosexuals mean to me

Because they...
Wash your clothes
Clean your cell
Help you drain your hose
Give you smokes
Laugh at jokes
Sew up all your clothes
Rub your feet
Beat your meat
Heaven only knows
What I'd do without those homosexuals

They all
Read and Write
Fuck all night
Clean your fingernails
Help you dress
Play you chess
Lay you down some rails
Be your wife
Take your life
In a jealous rage
Who says we don't need them homosexuals

I tell you
Some are big
Some are small
Some are in-between
Some are yellow belly queers
And some of them are mean
Some are killers
Some are thiefs
Some are singers too
In fact Anita Bryant
Some act just like you

So, fuck Anita Bryant
Who the Hell is she
Telling all them faggots
That they can't be free
Throw that bitch in prison
Then maybe she'll see
Just how much them goddamned homosexuals mean to me

Because they...
Wash your clothes
Clean your cell
Help you drain your hose
Give you smokes
Laugh at jokes
Sew up all your clothes
Rub your feet
Beat your meat
Heaven only knows
What I'd do without those homosexuals

They all
Read and Write
Fuck all night
Clean your fingernails
Help you dress
Play you chess
Lay you down some rails
Be your wife
Take your life
In a jealous rage
Who says we don't need them homosexuals

I tell you
Some are big
Some are small
Some are in-between
Some are yellow belly queers
And some of them are mean
Some are killers
Some are thiefs
Some are singers too
In fact Anita Bryant
Some act just like you

Headed For The Country lyrics - David Allan Coe

Lightly tripping through
The misty dripping morning
Up the stairs to see if she was home
When I found a note
That she'd wrote with a pen
Attached upon her door
And the two weeks stack of daily papers
Said goodbye to someone that I love

[Chorus:]
And it looks as if she's headed
For the country once again
Far from the city sidewalks
The neons and the rain
Back to the grassy meadows
To run barefoot through the wind
They tell me that she's headed
for the country once again

I miss her sermons of
Seek and ye shall find
Truth is just a bluebird flying blind
And a special prayer for those
Whose mind should ever flow
One for the weary, for the sick
And the passing of the good

[Chorus]

If I Knew lyrics - David Allan Coe

If I knew I could count on you I would love you my whole life through
There is nothing that I would not do if I knew I could count on you

I've been lonely for a long time I've been looking everywhere
I need someone to believe in I need someone that will care

And if I see that your love is true I will gladly put my faith in you
There is nothing I would rather do if I see that your love is true

I've been searching for a true love I've been looking high and low
I've got all this love inside me and it's good nowhere to go
If I knew I could count on you...
And if I see that your love is true...
If I knew I could count on you...

If That Ain't Country - Part 2 lyrics - David Allan Coe

Well I'm just an old man now covered with scars
Most of them I got fightin' in them redneck bars
And A bunch of brand new tattoos that Squench put on me

He covered up the ones I'd gotten years ago
Back in prison when I was just Dave Coe
And I wasn't famous then and I wasn't free

You know I grew up in a three room run down shack
At the foot of the hill by the railroad track
Where decent folks don't go when the sun goes down

My daddy worked at the Goodyear tire and rubber company
And he worked on cars
My momma went to church and my daddy went to bars
Most people just called it the hillbilly part of town

I had a '55 Chevy when I was fifteen
I painted it red cause I was still green
Hell I couldn't even afford to buy it gas

Had a .410 rifle and a bowie knife to
Red Man tobacco that I liked to chew
And we'd count the cars when the trains went past
And if that ain't country I'll kiss your ass

[Chorus:]
If that ain't country it'll hair lip the pope
If that ain't country it's a damn good joke
I've been on the Grand Ol Opry and I know Johnny Cash
And if he ain't country I'll kiss your ass

You know one of my sisters was a lady of the night
Then one day she saw the light
Now she don't do those things that she used to do

She never made the funeral when my daddy died
I said I'd forgive her but I guess I lied
Cause there ain't no way to hide the way that I feel

Me and my brothers took our sister Diane
Down to the funeral home to see the old man
Jimmy was the oldest and Diane she was the youngest one

Jack and Ray was in the middle and then there was me
And I'm the one that turned 23
And grew up to be that yankee's rebel son

Times are changing I heard Bob Dylan say
It's been fifteen now since my father passed away
But I can still picture him in his overalls

Standin' around the house where he made his deals
Around the porch there was a bunch of old wheels
And some used Harley Davidson parts that he sold for cash

There was fifty holes in an old tin roof
Me and my family was livin' proof
Everybody called us old poor white trash
And if that ain't country I'll kiss your ass

[Chorus:]
If that ain't country it'll hair lip the pope
If that ain't country it's a damn good joke
I've been on the Grand Ol Opry and I know Johnny Cash
And if he ain't country I'll kiss your ass

And if that ain't country I'll kiss your ass
And if that ain't country I'll kiss your ass

Jimmy Buffett Doesn't Live In Key West Anymore lyrics - David Allan Coe

This song is for all the people that's been reviewing our records in different magazines and things and say we sound a lot like Jimmy Buffett because we live in Key West and use Congo drums in our songs. For all those people that live in Key West and are under the misconception that Mr. Buffett live in Key West
We'd like to say there's a lot of things in Key West, as a matter of fact,

There's sailboats and conch shells and palm trees galore,
But Jimmy Buffett doesn't live in Key West anymore
Sister spare change has a bumper sticker on the door
Says Jimmy Buffett doesn't live in Key West any more

Hey smugglers need those Buffett songs, snitching on the sly
Bringing heat where it's already to damn hot to die
Son of a son of a son of bitch, what's all that bullshit for
Jimmy Buffett doesn't live in Key West anymore

Sailing to the Caribbean Jimmy might well be
Pictures up in Rollin' Stone for all the world to see
The rich keep getting richer, the poor they just stay poor
Jimmy Buffett doesn't' live in Key West anymore

Now Jimmy's moved to Malibu with all those other stars
He's not down on Duval Street hangin' out in bars
All them God damned tourist, got to be a bore.
Jimmy Buffett doesn't live here any more

So don't tell me I sound like Jimmy Buffett
Just because I got that island beat
Jimmy might have grown up on the ocean
Me, I kinda grown up on the street
Music's just a way of life, me I'm livin' free
Don't lay all that Key West Jimmy Buffett shit on me

Now Divers Do It Deeper must have really made them mad
Some of them reviewers said it really sounded bad
Well they liked Margaritaville, me I liked it too
Someday Jimmy, why don't we just both get drunk and screw
Oh those creepy Mother Fuckers that think music is a whore
Tell that you just don't live in Key West anymore

There's sailboats and conch shells and palm trees galore,
But Jimmy Buffett doesn't live in Key West anymore
Sister spare change has a bumper sticker on the door
Jimmy Buffett, he don't live in Key West any more

Alright boys, sound like Jimmy Buffett now

Juanita lyrics- David Allan Coe

Well I'm finally gettin' used to the water the way the tarantulas bite
Those Federales didn't believe I only came here to watch the bulls fight
Tell my mother I need a good lawyer tell my father I'm getting a tan
My sleepy siesta down south of the border is taking more time than I planned
Oh Juanity somebody betrayed me they've given me ten years to life
Juanita I need you to save me I promise I'll make you my wife

I got a big house in Milwaukee with a color TV and a pool
A Naugahyde bar and a Cadillac car Juanita they're waiting for you
Tie the burro up down in the courtyard to keep the guard busy tonight
When you bring my dinner make sure the tortilla is filled with a gun or a knife
Juanity somebody betrayed me...

Juanita you'll love Wisconsin Wisconsin is gonna love you
Yes all of Milwaukee speaks Spanish
Of course you're gonna wear American shoes
Lake Michigan tastes like tequila frijoles why they grow there on trees
You can say adios to the pigs and the goats if you'll just do this one thing for me
But Juanity somebody betrayed me...

Juanita I swear it was all a mistake
You see I was drowning out there in the ocean and I saw this bale coming by
Man so I grabbed it and I climbed up on top of it
And I found this stick and I rowed myself into shore
And when I got there the Border Patrol was waiting for me
At the I didn't know what it was
I promise you if you'll just marry me so I can become a citizen of Mexico
I'll take you to Milwaukee you can meet all my friends
They got these big shiny motorcycles
And you can ride on the back of 'em with 'em really Juanita would I lie to you

Just To Prove My Love To You lyrics - David Allan Coe

I could walk across Kansas in a New York minute
Climb the Colorado mountains in the fall
Crawl through Arizona like a flat land lizard
If I thought it'd do me any good at all
I could swim lake Erie with my hands tied behind me
Eat a west Virginia coal miner's shoes
Drink the Mississippi river if it took a month of Sundays
Just to prove my love to you

[Chorus:]
I remember well the first time I kissed you
Cuss things ain't been the same ever since
You got me thinkin' I could eat a ten-penny nail
And spit out a barbed wire fence
Well there ain't a living creature gonna ever come between us
I fight lions snakes and gorillas too
If that ain't enough I'd start it all over
Just to prove my love to you

I could ride my pony through the eye of a hurricane
Climb mount everest on a string
Jump Niagara falls in a burnin' barrel
And bring ya back a hoop smoke ring
Wrestle alligators in the Okefenokee
There's nothin' that I wouldn't do
If you just say the word
I'd catch that great speckled bird
And bring it back to you

[Chorus:]
I remember well the first time I kissed you
'cause things ain't been the same ever since
You got me thinking I could eat a ten-penny nail
And spit out a barbed wire fence
Well there ain't a living creature gonna ever come between us
I fight lions snakes and gorillas too
If that ain't enough I'd start it all over
Just to prove my love to you

I could walk across Kansas in a New York minute
Climb the Colorado mountains in the fall
Crawl through Arizona like a flat land lizard
If I thought it'd do me any good at all
I could swim lake Erie with my hands tied behind me
Eat a west Virginia coal miner's shoes

Linda Lovelace lyrics - David Allan Coe

Well, I've fucked 'em all from Coast to Coast...
Well you can talk about your lovers and your back door pimps.
You can talk about your hollywood Fags.

If you want to know the best love in the world then I'm the best mother-fucker alive
Jackie Onassis was a snuff queen for me before she ever got rich.
And it would take a man a day and a half just to satisfy that bitch.

Why the Queen of England gave me the keys to the whole damn Country of France
And it only took me 15 minutes to get into her pants.

Well, I've fucked 'em all from Coast to Coast, cause honey, that's my bag.

Fact, I'm the only guy in the world who can make Linda Lovelace Gag

doot doot doot duh...

Now it ain't that my dick's so goddamn big, it's just that I know how to use.
I'll never let no nickle-dime whore ever get the chance to abuse it.
They can suck it for hours and hours on end, but I'll still be in control.
And I won't cum 'til I wanna cum, cause that's my jelly-roll.

Now they're ain't no woman, no match for me, I've had 'em try to wear me down.
I've fucked them barmaids, and bankclerks, I even fucked a circus clown.
Teachers and Lawyers doctors and more, them fat women sure are a drag,

I tell you I'm the only motherfucker in the world that can make Linda Lovelace gag.

Well, old Harry Reams fall apart at the seams when he saw me fuck that whore.
She sucked my dick and swallowed my nuts, and I still hollered for more.
She sucked my asshole, she sucked my toes, she's the suckinest bitch alive.
I made her call up two more cunts, and friend that at no jive.

She don't give me no shit about being no big time lover.
Some movie star with a jag.
Cause you ain't shit...
If you can't get Linda lovelace to gag.

And don't talk about being no full-time lover, cause mister, that's my bag.

I'm the only motherfucker in the damn world that can make Linda Lovelace gag.

doot doot doot

Little Orphan Annie lyrics - David Allan Coe

Play your fiddle Little Orphan Annie
Play it for the shrimpers and the pirates out to sea
Play it for the hippies down in Mallory Square
If I'm not there won't you play a song for me

We all called her Little Orphan Annie at the playground
Merry go merry go merry go round
Till she picked her fiddle up we always put her down
When she picked her fiddle up they come for miles around to hear her play

Play your fiddle Little Orphan Annie...

Aw Mad Dog Diamond Jim Richmond from the Tennessee Hot Band
John Hartford on the banjo oh Diamond my oldest son Dale
John Hartford playin' the fiddle and the banjo Diamond Jim

Looking In The Mirror lyrics - David Allan Coe

Looking in the mirror
Must be harder than you thought
Truth is not a pretty sight to see
Cheatin' ain't worth cheatin' honey
When you're gettin' caught
Lovin' him while losin' you and me

Maybe I was foolish
Sometimes dreamers often are
I believed that you believed in me
Stamding in love's quciksand honey
Reaching for a star
Looking for your love to set me free

I've seen all the dreams
I ever thought was coming true
Shattered like a mirror in your hall
Leaving your reflection like a four letter word
Fading quickly from some bathroom wall

Trying to understand love
Is the hardest part of all
Does it really matter whose to blame
Once I called you honey
Now I never call at all
Knowing you could only call me names

Seeing it was over
Did not mean that you could go
Leaving me the pleasure of the pain
Trusting someone else will be
A harder row to hoe
Lovin' won't be easier again

Lovin' You Comes So Natural lyrics - David Allan Coe

I know that the hardest thing I ever had to do
Was walkin' out on her to run to you
I'm leavin' town without her now cause that's the way I came
I know your love is waiting and it's time to catch a train
Lovin' you comes so natural anymore lovin' her was a chore
With you it's so easy lovin' you comes so natural anymore

She kept tryin' to make me change into somebody new
That was just too hard for me to do
Givin' it ain't easy honey I found out the hard way
With the games I've had to play till I could get to you
Lovin' you comes so natural...
Lovin' you comes so natural...

Lyin' Comes So Easy To Your Lips lyrics - David Allan Coe

Lyin’ Comes So Easy To Your Lips girl
Cheating drips right off your finger tips girl
Everything about you lets me know
Just how far you’ll really go
Honey you know all the tricks
Lyin’ Comes So Easy To Your Lips.

I could smell the whiskey on your breathe when you came in
Even though you swore you never touched a drop
Your dress was kinda wrinkled and your makeup was smeared a little
And your hair looked like he tied it in a knot
Your wedding ring looked guilty
As it sparkled on your finger
I could almost see it laughing in my face
Knowing that your secret
Wasn’t secret any longer
It was plain to see someone had took my place

You knew all the answers to the questions I was asking
Your excuses seemed to compliment your lies
There’s no use pretending
This old heart ain’t mending
It took me much to long to realize that.

Lyin’ Comes So Easy To Your Lips girl
Cheating drips right off your finger tips girl
Everything about you lets me know
Just how far you’ll really go
Honey you know all the tricks
Lyin’ Comes So Easy To Your Lips.

Master Bation Blues lyrics - David Allan Coe

She's alone in the corner, with her panties to her knees, lookin in the mirror,
she gives her tits a squeeze. Slides her finger thru the wetness, rubbing
gently on her clit. Breathing heavy with each stroke now. She's not worried
bout me watchin, its too late now to refuse, nightly fever you can't shake
down, masturbation blues.

He picks up the dirty picture, with his dick hard in his hand, with a stroke
you see hime moving, with the music of the band, against the wall you see him
jerking, as the cum spills on the floor, as he swells in the mirror, he won't
do this anymore, he's not worried bout me watchin, it's too late now to refute,
nightly fever you can't refuse, masturbation blues.

Meanwhile Back In Memphis lyrics - David Allan Coe

All the way from Memphis, babe
In search of something new
You tell me now
That Memphis, girl
Don't hold a thing for you

Hypnotized by gypsy lies
Like a moth drawn to the flame
In the crowd
You're just a faceless face
Another nameless name

Living on the handouts
Of the Jesus of your own choosing
The Christ you knew
In Memphis, girl
Could not win for losin'

Love beeds for your rosary
And your drugs to see you through
You're telling me
At seventeen
You know more that I do

Say farewell to L.A
And your little coat of blue
'Cause meanwhile
Back in Memphis, girl
Our mama prays for you

All the way from Memphis, babe
In search of something new
You tell me now
At seventeen
You know more than I do

Mississippi Woman lyrics - David Allan Coe

With your lips so tender baby, and your eyes so bright.
Thought I'd write a letter, just to let you know,
Mississippi Woman, baby, that I love you so, child.

Got into some trouble, down in Mexico.
Robbed a man in San Juan, and I shot a guy called Joe.
Now I'm being hunted and the law is on my trail.
Next time I write you woman, I guess I'll be in jail.
Mississippi Woman, try to understand,
Please don't sit around and wait for this lonely man.

Caught me in Kentucky, the judge gave me a dime,
Bought a hacksaw from a trustee and I got away that time.
Right now, I'm in Florida, on my way to Tennessee.
Mississippi Woman, baby, save your love for me, child.

Mississippi Woman, with your long black hair,
Gee, I really miss you baby and I wish that you were here.
Oh, how you used to love me woman, every lonely night,
With your lips so tender baby, and your eyes so bright.
Thought I'd write a letter, just to let you know,
Mississippi Woman, baby, that I love you so, child.

Mississppi Woman...

Mississippi Woman!

Mississippi Woman...

Niggerhatin' Me lyrics - David Allan Coe

I like sugar, and I like tea
But I don't like niggers
No Siree
Theres two long things
that will make me puke
thats a hog eatin slop
and a big black spook

you know it cause I show it
like a barn yard rooster I crow it
And the NAACP
would sure like to get a hold of niggerhatin' me

Roses are red,
and Violets are blue,
and niggers are black
you know thats true
they don't mind
cause what the heck
you gotta be black to get a welfare check
and I'm broke no joke
I ain't gotta nickel for a coke
and I ain't black you see
so Uncle Sam won't help poor Niggerhatin' me

Jiggaboo Jiggaboo where are you
Out here in the woodpile watching you
Jiggaboo Jiggaboo come out
no sir I scard of the White man way down south
you know it cause I show it
stick your black head out and I'll blow it
and The NAACP can't keep you away from little ol niggerhatin' me

Mirror Mirror
on the wall
who is the blackest of them all
a man named King it ain't no dought
he's causin' lots of trouble with his Baboon mouth
Through it hes a doin' its caused by the trouble hes a brewin'
And the NAACP can't win if the white man stick with Niggerhatin' me

Hey mister president what do you say
when are we whites gonna have our day
niggers had theirs such a long long time
I'm white and its time that I have mine
you know it and I show it stick your black head out and I'll blow it
and the NAACP can't win if the white man stick with Niggerhatin' me

Now I Lay Me Down To Cheat lyrics - David Allan Coe

Now I lay me down to cheat
On the woman I love so
And if I die between these sheets
I pray to God she'll never know

She's the best thing in this life
Why she worships the ground that he walks on
She waits up for him at night and worries
Until he's safely home
And she always believes his stories about overtime
And in 20 years beside him cheatins never crossed her mind

Aw but it crossed his
Early last summer
In a person of a neighbor that she still calls her friend
And with a little push from drinkin one too many one night in the fall he gave in
And now he wishes he could stop himself
But theres no easy way
So he lays down with his lover
And silently he prays

Now I lay me down to cheat
On the woman I love so
And if I die between these sheets
I pray to God she'll never know

In his heart and soul
He knew he was playing a game he could never win
But ya know, forbidden fruit is sweet
Why it was sweet enough to make him risk it all again
And now he's givin up on lookin for a way
To fight the feeling
So he prays this simple pray
And hope it makes it past the hotel ceiling

Now I lay me down to cheat
On the woman I love so
And if I die between these sheets
I pray to God she'll never know

Old Grey Goose Is Dead lyrics - David Allan Coe

Go tell Aunt Rody go tell Aunt Rody
Go tell Aunt Rody the old grey goose is dead

Grandpa found her dying grandpa found her dying
Grandpa found her dying in the millpond on her head
The gander won't eat now gander won't eat now
Gander won't eat now because his wife is dead
Somebody go tell Aunt Rhody go tell Aunt Rody
Go tell Aunt Rhody that the old grey goose is dead

Let's pray for the babies pray for the babies
Pray for the babies because their mama's dead
Somebody go tell Aunt Rhody...

Lord now go tell Aunt Rhody children go tell Aunt Rhody
Want you to go tell Aunt Rhody tell her that the old grey goose is dead
Everybody go tell Aunt Rhody now now go tell Aunt Rhody
Now now go tell Aunt Rhody
Go tell Aunt Rhody tell her that the old grey goose is dead

Please Come To Boston lyrics - David Allan Coe

Please come to Boston for the springtime
I'm staying here with some friends
And they've got lots of room
You can sell you paintings on the sidewalk
By a café where I hope to be working soon
Please come to Boston
She said, "No, David, you come home to me"

And she said,
"Hey rambling boy why don't you settle down
Boston ain't your kind of town
There ain't no gold and there ain't nobody like me
I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"

Please come to Denver with the snowfall
We'll move up into the mountains
So far we can't be found
And throw "I love you" echoes down the canyon
And then lie awake at night 'till they come back around
Please come to Denver, she said
"No, you come home to me"

And she said,
"Hey rambling boy why don't you settle down
Boston ain't your kind of town
There ain't no gold and there ain't nobody like me
I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"

Now, this drifter's world goes 'round and 'round
And I doubt if it's ever gonna stop
But of all the dreams I've lost and found
And all that I ain't got I still need to lean to
Somebody I can sing to

Please come to L.A. to live forever
California life alone is just too hard to build
I live in a house that looks out over the ocean
And there's some stars that fell from the sky
A' living up on the hill
Please come to L.A.,
She just said,
"No, david, you come home to me"

And she said,
"Hey rambling boy why don't you settle down
Boston ain't your kind of town
There ain't no gold and there ain't nobody like me
I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"

Please come to Boston
(Hey rambling boy come home)
Please come to Boston
(Hey rambling boy come home)
Please come to Boston
(Hey rambling boy come home)
Please come to Boston
(Hey rambling boy come home)

Pledging My Love lyrics - David Allan Coe

Forever my darling our love will be true always and forever I'll love only you
Just promise me darling your love in return
Make this fire in my soul dear forever burn
My heart's at your command dear to keep love and to hold
Making you happy's my desire dear loving you is my goal
I'll forever love you the rest of my days I'll never part from you and your loving ways

My heart's at your command...
This is my last letter end of the song my life is so miserable I can't go on

Pussy Whipped Again lyrics - David Allan Coe

Pussy whipped again
A Fine mess I found myself in
Tryin' to be her buddy
Trying to make a woman my friend...

Pussy whipped again
blame it on the whiskey and gin
Oh Lord, I'm pussy whipped again.

I took my male ego
And placed it under lock and key
I swore no God damn woman
would ever make a fool of me.

Then I met this barmaid
and my whole damn world caved in
Heaven knows when she sucked my toes
I was pussy whipped again

Pussy whipped again
A fine mess I got myself in
Tryin' to be a buddy
Trying to make a woman my friend
Pussy whipped again
blame it on the whiskey and gin
Oh Lord, pussy whipped again.

I knew my chauvenistic ways
would someday make her change her mind
And sure enough she left me
And just in the nick of time

Her girlfriend took me around the world
To places that I've never been
She called my bluff
And sure enough
I was pussy whipped again

Pussy whipped again
a fine mess I got myself in
Tryin' to be her buddy
Trying to make a woman my friend
Pussy whipped again
blame it on the whiskey and gin
Oh Lord, pussy whipped again.

Play it on time...

Pussy whipped again
a fine mess I got myself in
Tryin' to be a buddy
Trying to make a woman my friend
Pussy whipped again
blame it on the whiskey and gin
Oh Lord, pussy whipped again.

Rails lyrics - David Allan Coe

Hey, lay me down some rails boys
don't put me in jail boys
and if I make a little noise
just leave me alone

I've been known to party some
but I anit never hurt noone
I've been ashamed of what I've done
especially when I'm stoned

I've spent most of my life in honest thinking
and I never cared too much for serious drinking
marijuana makes my eyes start blinking
and incense make my sinuses drain

So, lay me down some rails boys
don't put me in jail boys
and if I make a little noise
just leave me alone

I've been known to party some
but I anit never hurt noone
I've been ashamed of what I've done
especially when I'm stoned

Now women make me think of consolation
prison makes me think of isolation
niggers made me vote for segregation
and cocaine makes me hard as a rock

So, lay me down some rails boys
don't put me in jail boys
and if I make a little noise
just leave me alone

I've been known to party some
but I anit never hurt noone
I've been ashamed of what I've done
especially when I'm stoned

Well it's hard to work for a dollar a week
and the Ku Klux Klan is bigger
so take the sheets of of your bed
and let's go hang a nigger

And lay me down some rails boys
don't put me in jail boys
and if I make a little noise
just leave me alone

I've been known to party some
but I anit never hurt noone
I've been ashamed of what I've done
especially when I'm stoned

Ride 'em Cowboy lyrics - David Allan Coe

Travelin' with the rodeo
That's the only life I've ever known
It started in new mexico
Must've been a hundred years ago
I used to be the best they say
Ridin' young wild horses for my pay
Now I'm much too old it seems
I only ride wild horses in my dreams

[Chorus:]
They used to tell me, ride em' cowboy
Don't let 'em throw you down
You can't make no money, if you hit the ground
They just said, ride 'em cowboy
Don't let 'em throw you down
You're the toughest cowboy in town
I've always been the rhinestone cowboy

I don't care what glen campbell has to say
What am I supposed to do
Midnight was a champion
He's the only bronc I could not ride
Now they tell me midnight's blind
He only rides the children for a dime
Ladies used to hang around
I must've been a hero in their eyes
My silver spurs are rusty now
Lord I wish I tried to settle down

[Chorus]

travelin' with the rodeo
that's the only life I've ever known

Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town lyrics - David Allan Coe

You've painted up your lips and rolled and curled your tinted hair
Hey Ruby are you contemplating goin' out somewhere
Shadows on the wall tells me the sun is goin' down
Oh Ruby... don't take your love to town

It wasn't me who started that old crazy Asian war
And I was free to go and do my patriotic chore
And Ruby I know I'm not the man I used to be
Oh Ruby... I still need some company

It's hard to love a man who's legs are bent and paralyzed
And the wants and needs of a woman your age, Ruby I realize
And it won't be long I've heard 'em say until I'm not around
Oh Ruby... don't take your love to town

She's leavin' now, I just heard the slammin' of the door
The way I know I've heard it slam a hundred times before
And if I could move I'd get my gun and lay her in the ground
Oh Ruby... don't take your love to town

Oh Ruby... don't take your love to town,
For God's sakes turn around, don't take your love to town

Shackles And Chains lyrics - David Allan Coe

On a long lonesome journey I am going
So my sweet little darling don't cry
For in shackles and chains they will take me
To a prison to live till I die

[Chorus:]
And each night threw the bars
I will gaze at the stars
My dreams dear of you so in vain
A peice of stone I will use for my pillow
While I'm sleeping in shackles and chains

Put your arms threw these bars once more darling
Let me kiss your sweet lips I love best
For in sorrow they were my conculution
And in sadness my haven of rest

[Chorus]

Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay lyrics - David Allan Coe

Sittin' in the morning sun sittin' I'll be sittin' when the evening comes
Watching the ships roll in then I watch 'em roll away again
I left my home in Georgia headed for the Frisco Bay
I've had nothing to live for it looks like nothing's gonna come my way
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay watchin' the tide roll away
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay wastin' time

Looks like nothing's gonnar change everything still remains the same
I can't do what them people tell me to do so I guess I'll remain the same
Sittin' here restin' my bones this loneliness won't leave me alone
Two thousand miles I roamed just too make this dock my home
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay...
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay...

Southern Star lyrics - David Allan Coe

Oh, southern star, how I wish you would shine
And show me the way to get home

I'm blue-collar branded and stuck in a mill
My life is a stranger to me
I'm too young to live like I'm over the hill
And too old to be young and free

Tired and nowhere bound
Lost in the eighties that’s where I am
I need a guiding light
Shining down to help me make it through the night
Oh southern star, how I wish you would shine
And show me the way to go home

Oh, radio won’t you play me some old song
And let my mind drift back to ‘68
We all have a time and a place where we belong
Somewhere we can go to escape

Tired and nowhere bound
Lost in the eighties that’s where I am
I need a guiding light
Shining down to help me make it through the night
Oh southern star, how I wish you would shine
And show me the way to go home

Oh southern star, how I wish you would shine
And show me the way to go home

Tanya Montana lyrics - David Allan Coe

Why the day you were born, girl
Your mom and I named you, Tanya Montana
I just thought you should know

Your eyes were
As blue as the skies of Montana
Your skin was
As white as fresh falling snow

Tanya Montana is some thing to see
A dream that came true for your mother and me
A small piece of Heaven on earth as they say
But Tanya Montana is so far away

Why some day you're gonna grow up
And you're gonna leave us, sweet Tanya
And some man will steal you
Some man's gonna steal you away, I know

But you know me and your momma
Why we love you, Montana
Lord, it's going to break our hearts
When we see you go

Tanya Montana has been on my mind
Like the eagles that fly above reaching the light
Searching for freedom, you'll find it some day
And then Tanya Montana will be so far away

The Devil Went Down To Jamaica lyrics - David Allan Coe

The Devil went to Jamaica
He was looking to sell some weed
He was doin' fine, they were standing in line
It was excellent weed indeed
He came across a young man who was likewise peddling pot
And the devil slid down the beach and said "boy let me tell you what,
I guess you kinda figured I'm a reefer head of course
And after all this time, I guess that I'm a conessuire of sorts
Now your stuff smells ok, but this can tranquilize a hourse
I bet a million in cash against your satsh that mines better then yours."
The boy said my names Johnny and you ain't smoked nothing yet
One hit of this grass'll kick your ass, you got yourself a bet."

Johnny role a ball of hash and make sure its the bomb
Cause the devils got the kinda stuff they smoke in vietnam
You'll get a million smackaroos in cash if you can cope
But if you cant the devil gets your dope

The devil packed a bong with a little ockopoco gold
And rosin flew from his fingertips as he fired up his bowl
He filled that chamber all the way and he took a mighty hit
And as they passed it back and forth it gave them both a coughing fit

When the bowl was finished Johnny said hey man that stuff was great
But fill your lungs with some of this and prepare to vegetate

Cannibas and bevis sweet mary jane
The devils in the back yard frying his brain
Zig zag filled with a diggidy dank
Hold on tight it'll hit you like a tank

The devil nodded off because he knew that he was stoned
And he asked if he could buy an ounce of the stuff that Johnny owned
Johnny said devil just come on back if you ever want to catch a buzz
I done told you once you son of a bitch mines the best there ever was

Fired up duvais one by one
Aint gonna stop till the bags done
Green as a bull frog sticky as glue
Granny do you get high yes I do.

Thief In My Bedroom lyrics - David Allan Coe

There's a thief in my bedroom but I'm not afraid
Thieves all get caught by mistakes that they've made
This one has torn my emotions apart somebody's stealing my heart

Well somebody's kisses are wet on my lip somebody's face is at my fingertips
Somebody's holding me tight in their grips somebody's stealing my heart

There's a thief in my bedroom...

Well somebody's kisses...

Things Look So Different From The Sky lyrics - David Allan Coe

Things look so different from the sky
Everything looks smaller when you're up so high
Nothing seems important when you think that you might die
Things look so different from the sky

Up above the clouds looking down
Trying to keep your feet on solid ground
They say a man is not supposed to cry
Things look so different from the sky

Funny how your mind just rambles on
Knowing you're somewhere you don't belong
You'll forget your troubles when you fly
Things look so different from the sky

Up in the air you move so fast
Rushing to your future from your past
It used to be so hard to say goodbye
Things look so different from the sky

Heaven's only Heaven, Heaven knows
Heaven's just a place you pray to go
Sometimes called The Sweet By And By
Things look so different from the sky

Funny how your mind just rambles on
Knowing you're somewhere you don't belong
You'll forget your troubles when you fly
Things look so different from the sky

Things look so different from the sky

Vibrator Queen lyrics - David Allan Coe

Well she ordered it from a magazine
I guess for about ten bucks
And it came by special delivery
In a plain brown cardboard box
Well she opened it and inspected it
(Someone in the audience yell's "How long was it")
(David answered "Bout twelve inches long")
Well she went and dipped it in her Crisco can
And turned that sum-a-bitch on
Well she hummed and a wiggled, squirmed and giggled
Collapsed into utter pleasures

She's a Vibrator Queen
She's in love with a machine
She swears it's an American dream
AC/DC try it and you'll see
It's guaranteed to make you cream in your jeans

Well she fell in love with what she had bought
A 12 - inch wonder that the mailman had brought
But through her love she could not see,
What a terrible fate there was to be.
Well she found her answer to all of her dreams
In a battery operated sex machine
Man nor beast could take it's place
She was destined to die with a smile on her face

She's a Vibrator Queen
She's in love with a machine
She swears it's an American dream
AC/DC try it and you'll see
It's guaranteed to make you cream in your jeans

One day while she was in the bath
She decided poorly,
To do her thing in the water
She paid no mind to that caution sign
That old AC current got her
Now people say, for miles around
They can still hear that dildo a hummin
But 'at's when I realized she cant be dead
Hell! Her ass must still be cummin

She's a Vibrator Queen
She's in love with a machine
She swears it's an American dream
AC/DC try it and you'll see
It's guaranteed to make you cream in your jeans

She's a Vibrator Queen
She's in love with a machine
She swears it's an American dream
AC/DC try it and you'll see
It's guaranteed to make you cream in your jeans

Waylon Willie And Me lyrics - David Allan Coe

It was like nothing I'd ever heard
And The Eagles flew in from the west coast
Like The Byrds they were trying to be free
While in Texas the talk turned to Outlaws
Like Willie and Waylon and me.

Hey!
Well that ?somewhere? Texas music is in the make
And we've been making music that is free
Doing one night stands and playing with our bands
Willie, Waylon and me

Oh Mad Dog! go to lead

They say The Beatles were just the beginning
Of everything music could be
Just like The Stones I was rolling a lone
Like a ship lost out on the sea
And Joplin would die for the future
And Dylan would write poetry
And in Texas the talk turned to Outlaws
Like Willie and Waylon and me

Hey!
My name is David Allan Coe and I'm from Dallas Texas.
They say Texas music is in the make
And we've been making music that is free
Doing one night stands and playing with our bands
Willie, Waylon and me

Big Jim!

I'd heard The Burritos out in California
Could fly higher than The Byrds
Roger McQuinn had a 12 string guitar.
It was like nothing I'd ever heard
And The Eagles flew in from the west coast
Like The Byrds they were trying to be free
While in Texas the talk turned to Outlaws
Like Willie and Waylon and me

Whips And Things lyrics - David Allan Coe

We're gonna do this song for useless
Oh I was into whips and things she was into pain
And I would beat her black and blue when she called me names
Chained her to the basement wall where she went insane
And I was into whips and things she was into pain

Oh Finger Fuckin' Sally worked at Kelly's bar
She showed me her titties in Ronnie Murphy's car
She was the first lady to let me go that far
Finger Fuckin' Sally down at Kelly's bar

And Pussy Eatin' Pamela went to Kelly's high
Caught her in the bathroom, I thought she would die
Eatin' Susan's pussy, licked that sucker dry
Pussy Eatin' Pamela went to Kelly's high

Suck 'Em Silly Shirley came out after dark
She would give us head jobs in Centennial Park
All the girls would snub her, said she was a narc
Suck 'Em Silly Shirley from Centennial Park

Yes, good ole Bloody Marys' on the rag again
Pussy Eatin' Pamela's got blood on her chin
Suck 'Em Silly Shirley got caught after dark
Finger fuckin' Sally in Centennial Park

Now Pussy Eatin' Pamela's in the county jail
Suck 'Em Silly Shirley left town on a rail
They sent Bloody Mary to the pen for life
And Finger Fuckin' Sally
She became my wife

I was into whips and things she was into pain
And I would beat her black and blue when she called me names
Chained her to the basement wall where she went insane
I was into whips and things she was into pain
